The Arkansas Sharpeners ceramic sharpening rod is a replacement rod for honing a fine edge. Ceramic is very hard and fine, so it realigns and polishes an edge while removing very little metal. It is a good choice for keeping a sharp knife sharp between real sharpenings.
Draw the blade down and across the rod at a steady angle, alternating sides. A few light strokes before each use keep kitchen and hunting knives cutting cleanly. Clean metal residue off the rod with soap and water or a scrub pad.
This is the rod only, without a handle. Use it as a replacement in a sharpener that holds rods of this length, or as a bench honing rod. Store it where it will not be knocked off a counter, since ceramic can chip if dropped. Shop our full lineup of sharpeners.
