The Browning Lockback has a 3.5-inch satin stainless blade, a maple Pakkawood handle with stainless bolsters, a thumb stud and a lanyard hole, closing to 4.75 inches.
Pakkawood is wood veneer impregnated with resin under pressure. It keeps the visible grain of natural timber while resisting the swelling and cracking untreated wood picks up outdoors, and it needs none of the oiling plain wood wants. Maple gives a pale, tight grain that shows the layering clearly, quite different from the dark rosewood and walnut that dominate this category.
Stainless bolsters reinforce the pivot end where the handle takes the most stress and resist the tarnish nickel silver picks up. A lockback holds the blade with a spine-mounted bar, and at 4.75 inches closed this fills a hand rather than perching in the fingers. Explore more Lockback Knives.
