The Ka-Bar Cool Name has a 4.25-inch black 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel drop point blade at 9 inches overall, a smoke polycarbonate handle and a sheath.
Smoke polycarbonate is translucent rather than opaque, so the tang shows through the scales as a dark shape inside the handle. That is unusual on a working fixed blade, where solid scales are the norm. This is the drop point in the Cool Name line where the other version runs a reverse tanto, and the drop point is the more generally useful of the two.
1095 Cro-Van is Ka-Bar’s carbon steel with chromium and vanadium added, tougher than plain 1095 and holding an edge better. The black coating protects a steel that would otherwise rust, and at 9 inches overall this stays a manageable belt knife. Explore more Utility and Work Knives.
