The Safe-T-Alert Gas Vapor Alarm is a black surface mount unit monitoring for fumes, fire and bilge water, with a thermal sensor and a smart sensor block.
Three hazards on one alarm is what separates this from a plain gas detector. It watches for flammable vapor, for the high heat that signals a fire, and for water in the bilge. Those are the three things that sink or burn a boat, and monitoring them separately would mean three panels and three installations.
Surface mounting means no hole is cut, which suits a retrofit or a bulkhead too thin or too structural to cut into. The thermal sensor detects heat rather than smoke, which is the right approach in an engine space where normal operation produces fumes that would trigger a smoke detector constantly.
